Event Description
David Buss presents “Strategies of Human Mating” as TCU Department of Psychology Green Chair Scholar

The TCU Department of Psychology will host David M. Buss, Ph.D as a Green Honors Chair Scholar at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Brown Lupton University Union Ballroom. Buss will present his lecture titled “Strategies of Human Mating.” The lecture is free and open to the public.

Buss believes the key to understanding mating strategies centers on identifying what women and men want in different mating relationships. With proper knowledge of these mating relationships comes understanding of the most important aspects of human mating, including tactics of mate attraction, love, romantic harmony and more.

As a psychology professor at the University of Texas at Austin, Buss’s areas of expertise include evolutionary psychology, human mating and personality psychology. He is also one of the founding fathers of the field of evolutionary psychology. He has written six books, including Evolutionary Psychology: The New Science of the Mind, The Evolution of Desire: Strategies of Human Mating and The Murderer Next Door: Why the Mind is Designed to Kill.

The Green Honors Chair program was designed to bring distinguished scholars, scientists, writers and other career persons to TCU for short visits. The program is shared by almost every college and department on campus and provides new ideas and stimulation for faculty, staff and students. Each department within a college has the opportunity to invite a Green Chair every three years. TCU benefactors Cecil H. and Ida Green endowed the program in 1969.
